Food and street vendors

How to take online orders for your food truck

Put your menu online, let customers order ahead and pay by card, show where you'll be this week, and print a QR poster for the window: a guide for food trucks and street vendors.

Put your menu online

Your menu is the first thing hungry customers look for. On xMerch each menu item is a product with a photo and a price, and items are grouped into sections like Tacos, Sides and Drinks by tagging them. Add-ons and sizes, like extra cheese or a large drink, are product options with their own price.

Choose a look that fits your truck

The menu template comes in three looks, each with your own colors and font:

  • Street: photo cards, built for food trucks
  • Counter: a menu board, built for restaurants and cafés
  • Market: tap tiles, built for pop-ups and stalls

Show where to find you

A truck that moves needs a schedule people can check. The menu page has a "find us" section with where you'll be and when, so regulars can plan their lunch around you.

Print a QR poster for the window

The menu page includes a printable QR poster that always points to your own store. Tape it to the window or the counter, and the line can order from their phones while they wait.

Take payment up front

Customers pay by card, Apple Pay or Cash App when they order, and the money goes to your Stripe account. No cash to count at the end of the night.

Questions

Do I need a separate app for my menu?

No. Your menu is your xMerch store page; customers open it in their browser from the QR code or your link.

Can I change prices or sold-out items quickly?

Yes. Menu items are products, so you edit or hide them from your dashboard and the page updates.

Is there support for food trucks getting started?

Yes. The xMerch grants program has a food truck category; see the grants page for dates and rules.
